When can I change my Medicare plan?
You can usually make changes during the Annual Enrollment Period (Oct 15–Dec 7) each year. You may also qualify for a Special Enrollment Period after certain life events (like moving or losing coverage).
Can I change my plan right now?
If you’re currently in a Medicare Advantage plan, you may be able to make a change during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (Jan 1–Mar 31).
If I switch plans, when does the new coverage start?
Changes made during Oct 15–Dec 7 usually start January 1. For Jan 1–Mar 31 (MA OEP) changes, the effective date is typically the first day of the month after the plan receives your request.
Will I be able to keep my doctor and hospital?
It depends on the plan’s provider network. Always check the plan’s provider directory to confirm your doctors, hospitals, and specialists are in-network
Are my prescriptions covered?
Plans use a drug list (formulary) and may require you to use specific in-network pharmacies to get the best costs. We can help you check your medications and preferred pharmacy.
What costs should I compare between plans?
Look at the monthly premium, copays/coinsurance, any deductibles, and the plan’s maximum out-of-pocket limit for covered medical services.
Can I return to Original Medicare?
In some situations (including MA OEP), you may be able to drop a Medicare Advantage plan and return to Original Medicare. You may also be able to add a Part D drug plan if needed.
Are there programs to help lower Medicare costs?
Yes—Medicare Savings Programs may help with Part A/Part B costs for those who qualify, and Extra Help can reduce Part D drug costs. Eligibility is based on income/resources.
